Alba has been employed by Grossmont College since 1966 and currently holds the position of Business Communications Services Supervisor. She currently serves as a Grossmont College Foundation Community Council member and was an original founding member of the Foundation. She is the current Treasurer for the San Diego Postal Customer Council and the immediate past cabinet Secretary of Lions Clubs International. Alba has been a member of the Credit Union since 1968 and she previously served on the Board of Directors from 1992 to 2004. She was appointed to the Supervisory Committee in 2008.
